Avoid — do not combine 1

Activated Charcoal

Activated charcoal adsorbs many oral drugs and can markedly reduce their absorption and effect.

Caution — use only with medical guidance 2

Glucomannan (Konjac)

Highly viscous fiber can reduce/delay absorption of medications taken at the same time.

Psyllium (Fiber)

Viscous fiber can slow/reduce absorption of co-taken drugs; take meds 1–2 h before or 2–4 h after.

Monitor — watch for effects 1

Sodium Bicarbonate

Raising stomach/urine pH can reduce or alter absorption and change excretion of some oral drugs; separate dosing.
