Evidence-Backed Supplements for Fertility and Conception
Couples trying to conceive often turn to supplements to support egg and sperm quality, ovulation, and a healthy early pregnancy, but the evidence behind them varies widely. The clearest case is folate (folic acid), which is firmly established for preventing neural tube defects and is recommended before and during early pregnancy. Beyond that, the data are more moderate and context-specific: myo-inositol has reasonable support for ovulation in PCOS, while CoQ10, NAC, zinc, berberine, and ashwagandha show promising but smaller or condition-dependent results. Others, including maca and tongkat ali, rest on preliminary evidence, and tribulus terrestris mostly fails to deliver on its fertility and testosterone claims. We grade each option by what the human trials actually show, with dosing context and safety notes. This page is educational and not medical advice; talk to your doctor or pharmacist before starting anything, especially when trying to conceive.
